This is the Earthworks Journals A5 (Medium) Distressed Dark Brown Leather Wraparound Travel Journal. We make this journal from a natural, vegetable tanned, full grain leather. This leather comes to us in pristine condition and we put it through various dying and staining techniques to give it a distressed look. We've gone for the look of a beaten up old flying jacket for this one. We finish the rustic look by leaving the natural edge of the hide on the wraparound flap, each one of these will be unique, some will have quite a straight edge, some will have a bit of a slant and some will be irregular. As it is the natural edge of the leather you might even find small scars, cuts or even holes on this edge. You can see in the images how much they can vary. This is the sort of journal that you can throw in your rucksack without worrying too much about it. The wraparound cover encloses the paper and is held in place with thonging that we make from the same leather, this forms a pen loop on the inside of the front flap.

The supple but very sturdy leather makes this a perfect travel journal to take on your adventures. It also makes a wonderful guestbook for a rustic wedding or a groomsman's gift.

The pages in this book are hand bound using a strong waxed cord. No glue is used, so the spine of the book cannot be broken, our binding is strong and permanent.

Our paper is 100% recycled and is a natural, off-white, oatmeal colour. It has a matt appearance and a slight texture. It takes most fountain pens without 'bleeding' and has a weight of 80gsm.
It is acid-free archival quality, which is great if you're planning on leaving your words for future generations!

P e r s o n a l i s a t i o n
We can personalise this journal by adding a tag with up to four characters tooled onto it, this slips onto the wrap cord and makes a handy additional pen loop. This is an optional extra and is free of charge.
