D e s c r i p t i o n
This is the Earthworks Journals A5 brown leather journal with our Retro Swallow, Heart & Rose Tattoo design hand tooled onto the cover. It is bound in a single thick piece of vegetable tanned leather and has a beautiful, antiqued brown finish which picks out the design and natural markings in the full-grain leather; this makes each book unique. The covers are held closed by two tie cords finished with leather beads.

With its versatile size it's a great journal to either keep at home or carry around in your bag. It makes a great personal journal, a place to write up your travel adventures, or even a rustic wedding guestbook.

D e s i g n
This is our version of a traditional old-school tattoo depicting symbols of love. Hearts and roses have always been symbols of pure love but the swallow has a more complex history. It was once popular with sailors as it was believed to carry their souls to heaven if they died at sea. It has now become a symbol of enduring love, as swallows mate for life. The scroll on this design can carry the text of your choice, please see the personalisation section below.

It holds approximately 250 pages (500 sides) of A5 sized, unlined paper.
We bind the pages by hand using a strong waxed cord. No glue is used, so the spine of the book cannot be broken, our binding is strong and permanent.

P a p e r
Our paper is 100% recycled and is a natural, off-white, oatmeal colour with faint flecks. It has a matt appearance and a slight texture. It takes most fountain pens without 'bleeding' and has a weight of 80gsm.
It is acid-free archival quality, which is great if you're planning on leaving your words for future generations!

P e r s o n a l i s a t i o n
We can personalise this journal for you by hand tooling text into the scroll on the design and this is totally free of charge for a maximum of ten characters (spaces count as characters). This can be a name, a message such as I LOVE YOU, or two sets of initials separated by a heart, an ampersand (&), or a plus (+). Example text can be seen in the images. Just add a note to your order or email us to let us know what text you would like. If you would like additional text anywhere else on the cover then please contact us for a price.
