This journal is not a stock item, when you buy this book we will be making it especially for you, this takes time! Please see our shop home page for our current dispatch dates.
We have made this journal from a natural, vegetable tanned, full grain leather. This leather comes to us in pristine condition and we put it through various dying and staining techniques to give it a distressed look. We've gone for the look of a worn and battered pair of everyone's favourite make of oxblood boots for this journal. We finish the rustic look by leaving the natural edge of the hide on the wraparound flap, each one of these will be unique, some will have quite a straight edge, some will have a bit of a slant and some will be irregular. As it is the natural edge of the leather you might even find small scars, cuts or even holes on this edge. You can see in the images how much they can vary. This is the sort of journal that you can throw in your rucksack without worrying too much about it. The wraparound cover encloses the paper and is held in place with thonging that we make from the same leather.
size & binding

Approximately 200 pages (400 sides) of A6 sized, unlined, recycled, paper.
The pages in this book are hand bound using a strong waxed cord. No glue is used, so the spine of the book cannot be broken, our binding is strong and permanent.
We're proud to say that this award winning paper is 100% recycled from unbleached post-consumer waste, which saves water, energy and trees.
It is a natural, off-white, oatmeal colour with faint flecks. It has a matt appearance, is slightly textured and it takes most fountain pens without 'bleeding'.
It's of archival quality which means that it will last for hundreds of years. This is great if you're planning on leaving your words for future generations!
We can personalise this journal for you by printing a name, initials, date, inscription, or any other text that you can think of on the first paper page inside, this is free of charge. Just add a note at the end of checkout or email us to let us know what text you would like. Unlike our journals with carved designs we cannot add text to the cover as the leather is not suitable for tooling.
